Envirobank hired the collaborative services of Brown Cow Communications and Bea Pierce to provide creative digital media services in the form of a new website that effectively leveraged digital media, the web and social media.

The brief

Envirobank, an Australian reverse-vending machine company, hired the collaborative services of Brown Cow Communications and Bea Pierce to provide creative digital media services in the form of a new website and integrated social media. Envirobank were interested in;

  • leveraging digital media, the web and social media channels to inform and engage a broad audience about recycling and their products and services
  • clearly communicating with a diverse range of distinct audience groups, each of whom had specific communication needs and objectives

The approach

To achieve this, Bea Pierce;

  1. Provided expert input into the development of the strategic approach and information architecture
  2. Created the graphical user interface (GUI) design that;
    1. provided a range of usablity options including quicklinks, newsletter subscription and easy pathways to the Rewards program for consumers to encourage instant participation with seamless integration to the online Rewards program website
    2. utilised newsfeeds and multimedia to convey detailed information in a compelling, user-friendly manner
    3. integrated social media channel links to encourage online community
    4. changed the perception of recycling in a mainstream audience through a design that utilised a fresh, clean colour palette and contemporary visual elements
  3. Provided strategic advice on using social media to facilitate two-way dialogues, instant updates on events, promotional incentives and competitions, and allowing people to connect and build up community
  4. Built the site in Joomla to take advantage of sophisticated information management, integrated functionality and administration tools
  5. Tested the site thoroughly for standards-compliance and accessibility and ensured SEO metadata was in place throughout the site to increase ‘findability’ via Google search
  6. Provided training in using the Joomla and WordPress administration tools to staff, and a step-by-step instruction guide

The end result
